How much do RC subs cost?

Picture
How much money do you have to spend?
Heh....sorry.  Starter kits begin around $700 like the Thunder Tiger "Neptune". There are "toy" R/C subs around sold by Robbe, Graupner, Nikko, Dumas and others starting at $200, but they are just that, pool toys. If you want to play with the big kids, you'll have to pay for the privilege. Some modelers like George "Crazy Ivan" Protcheko, have taken the Dumas Akula, upgraded the WTC and made them into danged good RC subs.

You can also purchase a plastic Revel submarine kit like the German Type VII or US WWII Gato fleet sub and fit them with water tight compartments for the radio gear, motors, etc!
